AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

1. TWO (2) DIATONIC SCALES: (a low and a high scale)

          SOPRANOS: Low- C to C          High- G to G

          ALTOS: Low- G to G (Going High to Low)     High: C to C

          TENORS: Low- C to C          High- F to F

          BASS: Low- G to G         High: D to D

 

2. CHROMATIC SCALE: C to G (up and down)

 

3. Sing "There Was An Old Lady Of France"- you must sing your voice part with the recording of the other three voice parts playing (see audition tracks below)

 

4.  Prepare a 30 second a capella excerpt from any song of your choice- it can be from any genre!

 

5. A simple sight singing example will be given when you enter the audition.  You will have 30 seconds to look over the example before singing.

 

6.  Interval echoing-  I will play two pitches and you will need to sing them back!

 

YOU WILL RECEIVE A NUMBER WHEN YOU ENTER THE AUDITION.  YOUR AUDITION WILL BE RECORDED, IDENTIFIABLE ONLY BY YOUR NUMBER, FOR PURPOSES OF EVALUATING THE AUDITION AND CHOOSING MEMBERS.  NO ONE OTHER THAN THE DIRECTOR AND ANY JUDGE WILL BE ALLOWED TO LISTEN TO ANY RECORDINGS BEFORE OR AFTER DECISIONS HAVE BEEN MADE.  THE FINAL DECISIONS WILL BE MADE BY A PANEL OF JUDGES DEEMED EXPERTS IN THE FIELD OF CHORAL MUSIC.
